SO. You think you can predict where Mt. Pleasant will be in ten years? Read the minds of the people at the village hall? You can see what the future holds for the residents? Well be careful now, if you try to profit from any of these endeavors, you will be breaking the law. Tucked away in the ordinances of the Village of Mt. Pleasant is Section 54-15: an ordinance prohibiting fortunetellers, palmists, mystic readers, spiritual and character readers, clairvoyants, phrenologists or other fakers, or in any other pretended science by which such person accepts or obtains any fee or other consideration from the patron.
You won't see fortune tellers, healers or palm readers popping up in any of the many vacant store fronts found in the village. Since the village felt regulation by license or permit would not prevent fraud by above mentioned, all are prohibited. So put away your crystal ball, put the cards back in the box, put the genie back in the bottle, and attend the village board and committee meetings when you can to see what's truly in store for your future. |
