CAMP Operating Guidelines PDF Print E-mail

In forming the Citizens Association, we put a lot of thought into how we want to conduct business. We felt it was critical to our success to have a set of guidelines for the conduct of our members, officers and staff. Our discussions led to the following set of operating guidelines:

We are committed to doing thorough, factual research on the issues we address in our articles, presentations, and communications.

We strive to thoroughly inform ourselves about village issues by drawing accurate information from multiple sources:

•  Mount Pleasant public records.
•  State statutes, village ordinances, and other authoritative sources of public information.
•  Public meeting attendance.
•  Elected officials and government employees.

We speak out if we believe something is wrong and needs to be addressed. We understand that this will cause friction at times with others, but we accept this as part of being involved citizens.

We strive to not be disruptive at public meetings nor at other meetings with public officials.

We recognize that not everybody is a regular computer user. So, we use multiple ways of communicating with Mount Pleasant residents, including the website, word of mouth, phone calls, emails and printed flyers.

We obtain our funding primarily from private donations, and use the funds mainly for these purposes:

• To pay for basic operating expenses: postage, telephones, post office boxes, and supplies.
• To pay hosting fees and other costs related to the website
• To pay for open records requests.

We are not a political organization. While we may engage in poll watching, we do not as an organization endorse or support specific candidates for public office. Members however are free to support candidates as they see fit, as individuals.
