Essay: Issues for the 2008 Local Election
Issues For the first time since 2005, Mount Pleasant will have a contested election for village trustee. Five challengers are running against incumbents for three open trustee seats. This time, I hope more people will vote based on candidates and issues (instead of just a candidate's name or which names appear first on the ballot). In this essay, I hope to set the stage for issues to be raised and debated during the campaign.

If this discussion takes place, we'll have a better election, regardless of who wins.

News At their regularly-scheduled meeting December 10, The Mount Pleasant village board approved E.F. Potter Appraisals for the three-year tax assessor contract starting in 2008.

In a statement made to justify his recommendation, Administrator Mike Andreasen cited a requirement for physical inspection that was used to compare bid results, which then favored E.F. Potter over Accurate Appraisals of Menasha WI.
